Mark C was getting married to the lovely Ali and asked me and Hadleigh to sing at their wedding. He asked me if I could sing a song I had written some years previously 'Use Me As You Will'. Well this had never been recorded and all I could remember was the chords and the chorus, so I filled in the gaps with the intended performance in mind. The tale grew in the telling however as I was subsequently asked to be best man (me!) and after thinking that Hadleigh and me would be playing quietly in a corner at the reception, Mark asked us to play at the ceremony itself! A total honour but also a complete shock!
This a personal favourite of mine, it sounds to me like The Faces on quaaludes and MDMA - down to earth but floaty. The buzz roll drumming is a hand made sample from a Peter Hammill track off the 'Nadir's Big Chance' LP, 'Institute of Mental Health, Burning'. It was a cack handed edit really which included the first note of Hammills tune, but as chance would have it (serendipity again) after the sample was sped up to the right tempo the songs were in the same key.
