about

An outtake from "PUFF" named "Valentino" as a kind of reference to hopeless romanticism-not genius motorcycle racing...This was one of the tracks we were sending out to get gigs at the time, (the promo cassette copy of some monitor mixes is all that survives) and consequently got a call from the entertainments sec at the University of London, one Ricky Gervais. He thought we sounded like Roxy Music, a highly inaccurate complement in my view. It's probably a good thing he got into comedy...Anyways he got us a job doing the theme for BBC2's "This Life" for which he became the music producer (his first media job I believe) and we got to use their swanky studios to record some drum tracks for the Album, so many thanks to him. Check out Mark's Richard Thompsonesque squiggles towards the end (some played backwards) and the honky saxes courtesy of Mark and Stephen's dad, Don Anderson. Chewy!
